REII carries out clean and renewable energy research and development programs on emerging technologies for the economical, efficient and environmentally friendly production of clean fuels and electricity from renewable cellulosic biomass and stranded fossil fuel resources. These R&D programs are carried out in cooperation with government, academic and commercial organizations. Some current collaborating organizations are described in the
Resources - Collaborations tab. Some examples of recent research programs include:
- Laboratory studies on gas, liquid and ash products formed from the slow pyrolysis of biomass
feed stocks
- Steam reforming of biomass pyrolysis products
- Development of integrated and real-time chemical analytical techniques for:
- The characterization contaminants in syngas
- The characterization of synthetic diesel and other clean, renewable fuels.
- Development of mass and energy models for the evaluation of pilot, demonstration and commercial scale renewable energy plants
