REII will work toward the achievement of the Twenty Five by Twenty Five goal by:
Identifying the most promising biomass to transportation biofuels technologies.
Recommending the remaining critical RD&D items that need to be solved for these technologies to become commercially viable—reducing cost, eliminating troublesome emissions, improving reliability.
Establishing an international network of research organizations that agree to work toward this common goal in a collaborative manner.
Monitoring the trends in biofuels use to track progress toward the Twenty Five by Twenty Five goal and contribute to the grassroots campaign.
Creating significant prizes as incentives for researchers to attack the critical hurdles REII identifies and meet the performance targets for conversion technologies REII establishes and promotes through its Renewable Energy Testing Center.
Encouraging the construction of small “Community-Based, Zero-Waste” biomass-to-biofuels production facilities to connect local communities to local solutions, rather than huge megaprojects.
Helping communities find the financing and expertise to build their own “Community-Based, Zero-Waste” biofuels systems.
