HISTORY
REII was established on August 30, 2004 as a
non-profit corporation in the State of California. since, Dr. Dennis Schuetzle was instrumental in helping DOD convert McClellan Air Force Base to private use (McClellan Park) from 1994-2000, he chose this location for the establishment of REII's World Headquarters
In January, 2005, REII initiated an assessment on the potential effectiveness of nearly 450 technologies for the efficient and economical production of renewable fuels and energy from waste biomass materials. On the basis of that assessment, two promising pilot technologies were selected for further study.
In March, 2006, REII established an agreement with the Government of Thailand to carry out cooperative RD&D programs on technologies to convert waste biomass to clean fuels. Shortly thereafter, REII was selected to lead a National Science Foundation (NSF) effort between the U.S. and China in which techno-economic and life-cycle assessment models were used to evaluate promising technologies for the conversion of waste biomass and coal to fuels.
In April, 2007, REII was selected by the City of Gridley and DOE to lead the Gridley Biofuels Project. These efforts lead to REII's award by DOE in December, 2009 of the DOE Integrated Biorefinery Demonstration Project.
